First Monday in November

Good morning friends!!!
I'm happy to be back on blogger this morning!  At the end of last week I decided I would be switching to substack- but this old dog is having a hard time learning new tricks.  I'm still not 100% decided that is where I need to be.  So today I just wanted to write, so I decided I would come back to my familiar little space and share with some friends today :)
((if you would like to follow my substack, my *maybe* new blog home, you can follow it here:
I also started a post last week and never got around to finishing it!  So hopefully I'll be able to work on that- this week seems decidedly less hectic than last week, so here's hoping to slower days!  I have a lot on my mind lately-  I need some time and space to think- or write it all out!

♥♥ The Weather ♥♥
It's perfectly cool!  I LOVE the fall weather and I'm so thankful for it!  I promised myself after the intense heat of summer I wouldn't complain in the fall, so here I am NOT complaining :)  I love it!

♥♥ As I look outside my window ♥♥
Its overcast but beautful!  Very fall. :)  I'm so sad, the weeks have been so full and busy that I let my mums on my porch die.  I'm sad about it!  I would like to get more to replace them, but would I even keep them alive?  :(  I need to move them so I don't feel bad everytime I look at them.

♥♥ Right now I am ♥♥
Surrounded by school work for the day!  But my boys are still reading so I have a few moments to myself :)  Listening to instrumental Christmas music.

♥♥ Thinking and pondering ♥♥
So many things!  Health.  Life.  How to 'seek simple.'  All the things...

♥♥ How am I feeling ♥♥
I'm extremely tired!  It's been a hard few weeks, and my body just wants a break lol.  Hopefully I'll get it this week!

♥♥ Weekly Menu ♥♥
Haven't gotten that far yet!  We are definitly having roast veggie and a rotisserie chicken tonight, beyond that I'm not sure!

♥♥ What I'm wearing ♥♥
Sweatpants and a tshirt.  I did throw on some powder, eyeshadow and mascara today.  I feel a little more human but still not fully 'made up' lol

♥♥ On my reading pile ♥♥
Still reading my Sarah Eden books, and seeking my new Amish read.  I LOVE books about Amish people lol!

♥♥ On my TV this week ♥♥
Dancing with the Stars is Disney tonight!  Thats our favorite night!  Stephen and I have been rewatching Victoria, and I forgot how wonderful it was.

♥♥ Looking around the house ♥♥
I still haven't put my fall decor up!  If I can do that today I'm going to take photos to prove that I did it!  I'm so behind!

♥♥ To Do List for the week ♥♥
Need to do some deep cleaning desperately
Put up fall decor!
Organize my closet
I'm trying to purchase at least two or three gifts a week so I'm not buying them all at once!  I got my boys last week so hopefully my girls this week!
I have a hair appointment and a nurse visit Thursday, talk about balancing something I dread to something I look forward too lol!

♥♥ Something fun to share♥♥
I started sharing my self-care journey here last week, and I'm working on the second post now.  I certainly haven't arrived, but when I saw photos of myself from the women's event on Saturday I felt really good about myself for the first time in a long time, and that's something to be happy about!

♥♥ What I am creating ♥♥
Working on my blog, trying to decide direction

♥♥ From the camera ♥♥
Last week it was so beautiful I took some photos outside.  Our chicken coop has come a long way since we started working on it last year, and I think it looks pretty great!

After years of tending to lillies, I planted a rose bush this spring, and its looking gorgeous into the fall

I said "Hi" to our girls and took some photos to share :)

I even took a photo of my husbands pet, Annie lol, aren't you guys happy to meet her!
Just kidding, she's very scary lol!  But he thinks she's very cool

Our Pastors wives gathering was a huge success!  And I got to
catch up with some sweet friends!  I was so thankful this event went well and so glad our church could host with our association!

And of course we celebrated my sweet girls 20th birthday!
We had a simple party at home on Wednesday, since it was church night.  We made tomato basil soup with three cheese tortellini (her favorite!) and I got her a horse-girl cake :)  I thought it turned out pretty and she liked it so much!

A pic with her "little" brother.  how did these two grow up so fast?

More brother hugs :)  I'm so glad my kids love eachother so much!

We had an awesome dinner at a seafood resturant in Greenville Friday evening.

Then we had a girls night Saturday!  The boys enjoyed the East Carolina University game so she and I did some birthday shopping and went to a hibachi restaurant.  She's a big fan of sushi!  Me, not so much but I love some hibachi shrimp!

I'm so proud of my sweet girl and all she has accomplished!

The boys had a blast too!  The Pirates won!

It was a busy, but blessed week!  But I'm happy to have a few slow days ahead of me!!!  :)  Thanks for visiting me today!  Can't wait to visit some of you!

  1. You did have a full week! I'm glad you had fun and all went well.
I tried to get on to visit you on Substack, but it wanted me to create an account and then wouldn't let me. :( So I'm happy to see you here!
    Your hubby can keep Annie!

  2. Happy birthday to your daughter! It sounds like you've had a lovely week. I'm feeling incredibly tired as well today but that time change as small as it is often throws me off for a few days until I re-adjust.

  3. I'm happy to see you back here. I've tried substack in the past (and I am following you there) but like it always seem to lack the charm that blogging has. I agree it feels to much like social media.

I have read a book that you might like on your journey of seeking simple. it's called When Less Becomes More: Making Space for Slow, Simple, and Good by Emily Ley I remember it really helping me put into words and into actions what I was seeking when I started my slow living journey.

I hope you a wonderful week.
